Question / Suggestion about gang inviation spam
ScrobDobbins wrote at 2014-07-15 02:44 am JJHunter wrote:Just don't decline it... It's only a little number in the corner. This is something that you'll just have to deal with... No point in fixing something not broken.Actually, it is broken. At least on my phone, you can only see one gang invite at a time. So if you don't decline it you won't be able to accept one that you do want. Not to mention the fact that spamming in any form is deplorable. The only reason I can see for anyone to defend this is because you gain most of your territory through spam invites and not by actually playing the game. There is literally no other reason to be against preventing spam.Jackleg is right. This would be a quick fix and would make the game better for new players and experienced ones alike. |

Mosley wrote at 2014-07-15 08:47 am Scrobdobbins if I were you I wouldn't be making accusations like that. Every single territory I own I have taken for myself apart from 3 which were from the only other guy in my gang. I have played this game as it was designed to be played. Just because I think it's up to the gang how many invites they send doesn't mean I do it myself does it. |

I'm in the top 15 best players for my country. So yes, I'll admit that if you can't scroll that is an issue. You should be able to see all the gangs offers. But them being able to spam like that should be completely up to the gang it's self. Might be a reason for war.. in the mean time cause you can't scroll, I'd just apply to whatever gang you want in. Again its only a little number on the front screen. |

DevilsNipple wrote at 2014-07-16 03:47 am Can't we just meet in the middle and make it so you can only be invited once per week by the same gang if you decline them. Also having a confirmation on the accept button would help. No end of times have I almost promoted gang members to chief. So lucky the confirm was there. _________________DevilsNipple!Do it the Awesome Way! |

Scrob and I are very happy with our gang, we're just sick of the invitations to join other gangs.Plus, if it's "just a number" then why do you guys OBSESSIVELY SPAM US? |

DevilsNipple, that would be a good middle ground, and I'd take anything over the way it is now... although I prefer once ever. Like I said, it's not hard to search out and apply to the gang if you want in later. |

Again its only a little number on the front screen. What does being in the top 15 have to do with anything we are discussing here? This is not 'Spam Domination' - there is no place in this game for spam. You seem to think it's just some cute gameplay element - as though it is some type of legitimate means of warfare between gangs or something. I just don't understand that attitude. And like I said before - it's not just a little number on the front screen. It's also a notification even when I'm not in the game. It's also something that could block someones ability to accept an invite that they actually WANT. If they repeatedly do it, it could also be considered harassment and/or cyberstalking in the real world. Especially if the person receiving the spam invites is under 18.All of this begs the question - why are you opposed to such a simple change that would allow people to stop receiving spam invitations? If you like receiving them, it doesn't affect you in any way. If you don't like receiving them then this change will allow you to stop them. Literally the only people who would be negatively affected by such a change are the people sending spam invitations. So once again I ask: Why are you so adamantly against this simple change that would stop spam invites that are annoying and that block people from being able to accept a real invitation? It's really mind boggling that anyone would be against this at all - especially as much as you seem to be. |

Re: Question / Suggestion about gang inviation spam
DevilsNipple wrote at 2014-07-18 12:10 am issue is much like myself iv had to invite people sometimes 3 times. not due to spam but because they declined by mistake, or because there didnt want to join there and then but instead later. and i know they can apply themself for the gang but sometimes they are too new to find it and just inviting them is easier than a long explanation about how to apply.were stopping spam here, and once a week a notification you can just quickly decline isnt so much spam but just a irritance.EDIT: reading your post scrob. a simple button to dissallow any more invites from certain groups could work well too. my once a week idea, mixed with an ability to block invitations from certain groups could be great for the game. |

Just declining an invitation once shouldn't hide all invitations from that gang forever. If I were implementing it, I would probably just add an 'Ignore Invites' button/checkbox to the menu that you can access while viewing another gang's profile page. That should make it hard to accidentally ignore invitations from a gang and allow people to change their mind in the future. I think that would be easier to understand for the users and easier to implement for the developers than a once a week type system.Although.. having a limit on the number of invitations a gang can send out in total per day/week (as opposed to just to a certain player) might be a good way to stop the invite spam as well. That would make invitations more valuable so then they would at least want to talk to the player to see if they were interested in joining rather than just send an invitation to anyone they see in chat. Plus it would probably make it a bit harder for the leaderboard jockeys to 'merge' gangs. |
